Activités / CV

José Martinez obtained is Ph.D. degree on December 2, 1992, at the University of Montpellier II. He was working on the design of concurrency control and recovery algorithms in object-oriented database management systems under the guidance of Prof. Jean Ferrié.

In 1992-1993, he was an assistant professor at the "Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers" (CNAM).

From September 1993 to September 2003, he was an associate professor in the computer science department of IRESTE which moved into the Polytechnic School of the University of Nantes in 2000.

His research activities took place at the Computer Science Research Institute of Nantes (IRIN, later LINA) around Multimedia Data Management.

On March 6, 2002, he obtained the "habilitation à diriger les recherches (HDR)".

In 2003-2004, he was affiliated at INRIA-Rennes in the Atlas project team leaded by Patrick Valduriez.

From 2004 to 2008, he was jointly co-head of the M.Sc. on Distributed Software Architectures, a co-diploma with École des Mines de Nantes.

From 2005 to 2008, he was the Head of the Computer Science Department of the Polytechnic School of the University of Nantes.

At that time, he was leading the theme "Multimedia data" of the Atlas-GRIM research team at the Computer Science Laboratory of Nantes-Atlantique (LINA),

From 2008 to 2011, he was in charge of Doctoral Studies at LINA as well as in charge of schooling of Ph.D students at the Doctoral School STIM (Information Sciences and Technologies, and Mathematics).

From 2012 to 2017, he served as Director of the Doctoral School STIM.

From 2017 to 2021, he was the Head of the two years Scientific Preparatory Program Department (PeiP) of the Polytechnic School of the University of Nantes.
